ABOUT THE EVENT
There is more to learning than only informing. Internet, for instance, provides us with lots of information and we no longer depend on coming to school to listen to a teacher in order to reach out for information. Within seconds we can have thousands of reference choices available after a quick search. However, in order to cause learning, we still need to help people make sense of this information and transform it into meaningful knowledge. This experience helps us to shift from the paradigm that understands teaching and learning, mainly, as transmission and reception of information. In other words, as teachers, we need to cater for the need people have to understand all the content they are exposed to within a context in which they can use their learning results to get things done, to get their messages across.
That’s valid for all ages, but particularly important if we consider the immense workforce, represented by adults who need English and are looking for solutions that help them get through their professional needs.
How can we help them with this challenge if we do not approximate teaching to applicable and meaningful learning results?
The theme of the X ABCI Conference "From teaching experience to learning results" questions that.
We want to make room for you to share your experience as a teacher, as a learning educator, as a manager and your ideas about ELT in a world in which the quality of results is directly related to the quality of the process.
We invite you to take an active role in this journey and add an extra share of experience both to your own and your colleagues’ professional expertise.
