Gustavo Ioschpe

Gustavo Ioschpe is an Economist. He graduated in Political Sciences and Strategic Administration from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and qhas got a Masters Degree in International Economy and Development, from Yale University. He writes for important Brazilian news media, such as Folha de São Paulo and Veja magazine. He has already written for Yale Daily News, and different periodicals such as Educação, República, Bravo!, and Carta Capital. His book “A ignorância custa um mundo” was awarded the Jabuti Prize in 2005. Ioschpe takes part in some of the most important educational foundations in Brazil, he is one of the founders of Todos pela Educação, a Brazilian NGO, and he is on the board of Instituto Ayrton Senna, Instituto Ecofuturo, Fundação Iochpe and Fundação Padre Anchieta. In 2011, Gustavo Ioschpe was invited by Rede Globo to be the Education specialist in the network special series “Jornal Nacional no Ar - Blitz da Educação", which visited 10 schools in five different cities throughout Brazil.
Penny Ur

Penny Ur was educated at Oxford, where she read Hebrew and Arabic, and at Cambridge (PGCE). She completed her MA TEFL at Reading University in 1987. She has thirty years’ experience as an English teacher in elementary, middle and high schools in Israel. From 1980 she has also been teaching pre-service and in-service courses at Oranim Academic College of Education and Haifa University, at BA and MA level. She has presented papers at TESOL, IATEFL and various other English teachers’ conferences worldwide. She has published a number of articles, and was for ten years the editor of the Cambridge Handbooks for Language Teachers series. Her books include Discussions that Work (1981), Five Minute Activities (co-authored with Andrew Wright) (1992), A Course in Language Teaching (1996), Grammar Practice Activities (2nd Edition) (2009), Vocabulary activities (forthcoming), A Course in English Language Teaching completely revised and updated ( 2012), all published by Cambridge University Press. Eric Baber

Eric Baber is currently President of IATEFL, the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language. MaryAnn Christison is a professor in the Department of Linguistics and the Urban Institute for Teacher Education. She teaches courses in the undergraduate, M.A., and PhD programs. Kathleen Bailey

Kathleen Bailey received her M.A. in TESL and her Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from UCLA. She is a professor of Applied Linguistics at the Monterey Institute of International Studies as well as a professor in the TESOL masters program at Anaheim University.
From 1998-1999, she was the president of the international TESOL association. She currently serves as the President of the International Research Foundation for English Language Education (TIRF) and is the Chairman of its Board of Trustees.
Dr. Bailey’s research interests include teacher education, supervision and development; second language acquisition; language assessment; classroom research; and research methodology. She has been honored as a recipient of the James E. Alatis Award for service to TESOL, and is a two-time recipient of the Allen Griffin Award for Excellent in Teaching in Monterey County.

Jim Scrivener is the Head of Teacher Development for Bell Educational Services. He created the Bell Online Delta, is the Director of the Bell Teacher Campus for two months during the summer at Homerton College, Cambridge and is involved with many of Bell’s teaching training and development projects.
